Grimbo's on fire!

I've upped the ante a tiny bit this week in patching Grimsbury Res, as migration slowly wakes up from it's winter slumber.

Despite my efforts, Monday (21/03) & early on Tuesday (22/03) had been super dead. I had a lone Redpoll over calling Tuesday, but otherwise not a lot happening.

Thankfully, this all changed, as Gareth discovered the first LRP of the year, a showy male mid-afternoon Tuesday. It's great to welcome them back, they're a real characterful species! This also turned out to be the first in Oxfordshire for 2016.

Yesterday (23/03) lunchtime produced a cracking bird for Grimsbury in the shape of a Rock Pipit feeding along the SW edge of the reservoir, my second patch tick within a week! Seeing a steady trickle of these being reported inland, I was hopeful we could come across one...nice when a hunch pays off! Another brief visit, this time after work revealed the presence of either the same or a new, fresh-in LRP, again a male.
